What is love?

What is the love that we all feel that day?
Is it the feeling of longingness?
Is it like a ray of sunshine in May?
Some consider it a huge but cool mess.
I think of it as compassion without end.
Some commit to each other forever.
It breaks apart, some are able to mend.
Others really are just not as clever.
Others think of it as never-ending.
For some it is an eternal escape.
From this grisly world we are all cleansing.
Sometimes it makes us feel like a dumb ape.
So what is this thing “love” that we all feel?
It’s what you make of it, love is what’s real.
