I have only read part of the first book, but they aren't really straying. Tara wasn't in the first book and it was supposed to be Lafayette dead, not that other black lady.

Hmmm...Strange. I know that Mary Anne's name was changed from Calypso. I'm trying to think of what else. I absolutely love the show though. HBO always does a fantastic job on their shows.
